This weekend marks the 9th anniversary of the September 11, 2010 attacks. Let us take some time to mourn the tragedy that our country went through and honor the brave men and women that were involved. Below is our updated weekly calendar of events for the City of Long Beach. Long Beach Museum of Art, Free Fridays: Long Beach Museum of Art located at: 2300 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA. Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show: The Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show tradition continues, September 9-12, forty-two consecutive years of boat shows produced in Long Beach by the Southern California Marine Association and presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California. The Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show at Shoreline Village Marina is one of the West Coast's largest in-water and outdoor boat shows featuring hundreds of motor yachts, cruisers, sailboats, fishing boats, performance sport boats, ski boats, pontoons, inflatables and personal watercraft. Boaters looking for accessory products and related marine services won't be disappointed as the Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show also offers a wide assortment of name brand companies showcasing marine electronics, hardware, and safety equipment, insurance and financing. Police and Fire Department 9/11 Memorial Service at Police/Fire Memorial: The Long Beach Fire and Police Departments invite you to attend a ceremony honoring those who gave their lives in the attacks of September 11, 2001. This year marks the 9th anniversary of the tragic events that unfolded in New York City on that fateful day. Local art galleries and retail businesses such as gift shops, boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops stay open until late evening. Linden Avenue is closed to the traffic and transformed into a street art fair by local artists. Two stages are dedicated to street performances and live music. Anyone is welcome.
