August 25th kicks off the official start of Be Kind to Humankind Week” beginning August 25th and ending August 31st. Movies On the Beach or Park: For the sixth consecutive year, Alfredo’s Beach Club is proud to bring you FREE Moonlight Movies on the Beach on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Plenty of FREE popcorn and parking! A full BBQ dinner menu as well as snacks will be available for purchase. Shoreline Drive at Linden Ave. in Long Beach, CA Jaws – NBC Universal For more information please go to: http://www.alfredosbeachclub.com/seafest-movie.html Sligo Rags in Concert at Rancho Los Cerritos: Sligo Rags is a two-time winner of Orange County’s Music Award for Best Folk Band, the group plays traditional Irish tunes but adds bluegrass-style flat-picking and world music rhythms to create a unique brand of Celtic music.  Gates to the Rancho’s main garden open at 5:00 p.m. for picnicking, and concerts begin at 6:00 and last until 7:30 p.m.  Parking is limited to Virginia Road, so bicycles and carpooling are encouraged.  Sorry, no animals are allowed except service dogs. Buskerfest Summer & Music 2010: The crown jewel of our celebration of local music returns to the East Village Arts District. More than a dozen local bands-turned buskers will compete for wooden nickles and a chance to win five full days of recording time at Compound Studio in Long Beach. To close out the night, nationally celebrated (but still local) bands Delta Spirit and Crystal Antlers will take over the neighborhood. Every third Saturday of every month at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Meet on the beach at 1 Granada Ave. in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach to help rid the beach of trash and debris. Free parking, bags, gloves, refreshments, door prizes, and volunteer credit forms. Just show up.
