It’s Thursday and the weekend is almost here! For yesterday and today, August 11-12, there is the Perseid meteor shower. So if you feel like watching some shooting stars, go anywhere to get away from the city lights like the beach or somewhere where you are high above the lights. The best window of opportunity to see the shower will be the late-night hours of Wednesday on through the first light of dawn on the morning of Thursday, and then again during the late-night hours of Aug. 12 into the predawn hours of Aug. 13. If you’re not into sky watching, then try out some of the other events happening in Long Beach this week. Here is your weekly calendar of events for the beautiful city of Long Beach… Movies On the Beach or Park: For the sixth consecutive year, Alfredo’s Beach Club is proud to bring you FREE Moonlight Movies on the Beach on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
